Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Boogir collects, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. It applies whenever you use our Services, described below.
Our registered users (“Members”) create and share spaces, publish articles, documents, events, and reviews, go live, ask and answer questions, join discussions, post images and videos, create polls, vote, and comment.
1.1. Services Covered
This Privacy Policy applies to Boogir.com, the Boogir mobile app, and related services (the “Services”). Registered users of the Services are “Members”, and unregistered users are “Visitors”.
1.2. Data Controller
Acmenia, the company that provides Boogir (“Boogir”, “we”, or “us”), is the controller of the personal data you provide to us, that we collect, or that we process in connection with the Services.
Boogir uses Talkou, another Acmenia service, for sign-in, messaging, and wallets. The data Talkou holds is also described in Talkou’s privacy policy.
1.3. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Services or by other means before the changes take effect, so that you have a chance to review them. If you do not agree to a change, you can close your account.
If you keep using the Services after we publish or send notice of changes to this Privacy Policy, the collection, use, and sharing of your personal data is governed by the updated policy from its effective date.
2.1. Sign-In and Sessions
You sign in to Boogir with your Talkou account, by scanning a QR code with the Talkou app, with a passcode, or with a passkey. We receive your name, profile photo, and the contact details on your Talkou account. For each signed-in session we keep a record of the device name, IP address, approximate location, and language, so that you can see and end your sessions and we can keep your account secure.
2.2. Account Information
You choose what information to include in your account. We do not require Members to include sensitive data, such as race, ethnicity, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, physical or mental health, sexual orientation, or criminal record, in their Boogir account. If you choose to add any such data, it is visible to others in the same way as the rest of your account information.
2.3. Posting and Uploading
We collect personal data when you provide, post, or upload it to the Services, such as when you publish a post, upload photos, videos, or documents, post a question or comment, vote, save a post, join a space, fill out a form, or respond to a survey.
Your posts, comments, profile, and spaces are public: anyone can see them, including people who are not signed in, and search engines may index them. You do not have to post personal data, but if you don’t, it may limit your ability to build an audience and engage with other readers and writers.
2.4. Live Video
When you go live, we receive your video and audio and show them to viewers as you stream. When the stream ends, its recording becomes the post’s video. The raw recording files are deleted within a day.
2.5. Payments and Payouts
When you buy credits or plans, we receive the purchase details from Apple, Google, or our other payment providers, such as the product, amount, currency, date, and transaction ID. We do not receive your full card number. If you add billing details, or payee details for a space, we collect the name, company name, address, country, city, postal code, contact details, and payout method you give us, and any identity or tax information we ask for before a cash out.
2.6. Service Use
We log usage data when you visit or otherwise use the Services, for example when you view or click on content, perform a search, unlock or read a post, install or update one of our apps, share an article, or post a comment. We use sign-in data, cookies, device information, and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses to identify you and log your use.
2.7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
As described in our Cookie Policy, we use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, protect the Services, remember your preferences, and measure how the Services are used.
2.8. Your Device, Location, and Permissions
We receive information about your network and device, such as your IP address, operating system, web browser, device identifier, and app version. We use your IP address to estimate your country and city.
With your permission, the app uses your device’s location when you choose a location, and its camera, microphone, and photo library when you take or upload photos and videos or go live. You can turn these permissions off at any time in your device settings.
2.9. Messages, Reports, and Support
When you contact us, report content, or appeal a decision, we collect what you send us. Messaging between Members on Boogir is provided through Talkou.
2.10. Other
Our Services change over time, and new features may require us to collect new information. If we start collecting materially different personal data, or materially change how we collect, use, or share your data, we will notify you and may update this Privacy Policy.
How we use your personal data depends on which Services you use, how you use them, and the choices you make in your settings. We use the data we have about you to provide and personalize the Services, including with the help of automated systems and the inferences we make, so that the Services, including promoted posts, are more relevant and useful to you and others.
3.1. Communications
We contact you by email, through notices on our websites and apps, through messages in your Talkou inbox, and in other ways through the Services, including push notifications. These messages cover the availability of the Services, security, payments, and other service-related matters. We also send messages about how to use the Services, product updates, reminders, and promotional messages from us.
You can change your communication preferences at any time, but you cannot opt out of service messages from us, such as security, payment, and legal notices.
3.2. Customer Support
We use data, which can include your communications, to investigate, respond to, and resolve complaints and problems with the Services, such as bugs.
3.3. Insights That Do Not Identify You
We use your data to produce and share insights that do not identify you. For example, we may use your data, including inferences drawn from it such as your location or the topics you are interested in, to produce statistics about our Members, to count how often posts are viewed or promoted posts are shown, or to publish visitor demographics.
3.4. Security, Moderation, and Investigations
We use your data, including your communications, for security purposes and to prevent or investigate possible fraud, other breaches of our User Agreement, and attempts to harm our Members, Visitors, or others. Automated systems check published posts, comments, profiles, and spaces, including their images and videos, for content that breaks our Community Guidelines.
3.5. AI Features
When you ask the help assistant a question, we send your question and the most relevant parts of Boogir’s help documents to our AI provider to produce the answer. Please do not include personal data in your questions.
Our automated moderation sends the text, images, and frames taken from videos of published posts, comments, profiles, and spaces to an AI provider, which checks them against our Community Guidelines. A person reviews content flagged this way before we act on it.
3.6. Legal Bases
Where the law requires a legal basis for using your data, we rely on one or more of the following: it is needed to perform our User Agreement with you; it is in our legitimate interests in running, securing, improving, and promoting the Services, where those interests are not overridden by yours; it is needed to comply with the law; or you have given your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4.1. Public Information
Your profile, posts, comments, spaces, and space memberships can be seen by anyone who uses the Services, and may be shown by search engines.
4.2. Service Providers
We use service providers to help us run the Services, and they process personal data for us. They provide services such as hosting and storage, error monitoring (Sentry), website analytics (Google Analytics), push notifications (OneSignal), email (Postmark), location from IP addresses (ipinfo), AI (Google Gemini and DeepSeek), and payments and payouts (Apple, Google, card payment providers, Payoneer, and UnionPay). Each receives only the data it needs for its service.
4.3. Talkou and Other Acmenia Services
Your account, sessions, wallet, purchases, invoices, and messages are stored in Talkou, and reports are handled with moderation tools that Acmenia’s services share. We share data among Acmenia’s services only as needed to provide them to you and to keep them safe.
4.4. Legal Requests and Safety
We may share your data if we reasonably believe it is required by law, a court order, or another legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Boogir, our Members, or others, to investigate fraud or security issues, or to enforce our User Agreement.
4.5. Change of Control
If Boogir is merged, sold, or otherwise reorganized, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, and it will remain subject to this Privacy Policy.
4.6. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
5.1. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to receive a copy of it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw any consent you have given. You can edit most of your data in your profile and Settings. For anything else, send us a message through the Services. We may need to verify your identity first, and some rights are limited by law. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
5.2. Account Deletion
To delete your account, sign in to Boogir in the app or at boogir.com, open Settings, find Account Deletion, select Delete, then type YES to confirm. If you last signed in more than 10 minutes ago, you are asked to sign in again first. You are then signed out on every device, and 30 days after the request your account and its data are permanently deleted from the Boogir database, including your profile and photo, your posts, comments and modules, your votes and saved items, and your notifications and memberships. You can cancel the deletion by signing in again during those 30 days. You sign in to Boogir with your Talkou account, which is not deleted with it; you can delete it separately in Talkou.
5.3. How Long We Keep Data
We keep your data for as long as your account exists and as needed to provide the Services. After your account is deleted, we keep data only where we must to comply with the law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our agreements, such as payment, invoice, and tax records, and only for as long as that requires. Copies in backups are overwritten over time, and content that others copied or shared may remain.
6.1. Security
We use reasonable security measures designed to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of the data you send us. Keep your sign-in methods and devices secure, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.
6.2. International Transfers
Our servers and service providers may be in countries other than the one where you live, including the United States and China, whose data protection laws may differ from yours. Where the law requires, we take steps to protect your data when it is transferred.
6.3. Children
The Services are not intended for anyone under the Minimum Age set out in our User Agreement. If we learn that we have collected personal data from someone under that age, we delete it and close the account.
6.4. Contact Us
If you have a question about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise your rights, send us a message through the Services.
