More than 500,000 international tourists came to Cambodia in the first semester of this year 2022

As we have known since Covid -19 has been spreading all around the world many countries have met financial crises and especially citizens' life has been dead many people all over the world. Moreover, many people come from different countries were on lockdown because of the Covid -19 epidemic. COVID-19 has not only wreaked havoc in Cambodia but also in all countries across the world.

Therefore, after many countries have received the Covid - 19 vaccines to protect against infection people in each of those countries reopen all kinds of transportation and business.

So Cambodia is a country that has protected the Covid -19 under control early time and Cambodia has one of the highest vaccination rates in Asia. The coronavirus has not yet been completely defeated, but the number of infections has fallen sharply in recent months. And now tourists are welcome in Cambodia again.

According to this situation, Cambodia has reopened and released the status of Cambodia’s tourism sector, and other sectors continued to improve after Covid- 19 epidemic better.

More than 500,000 international tourists came to Cambodia in the first half of 2022. This is an increase of about 394% if compared to the same period of 2021. However, this data decreased by 84.8% compared to 2019 before the Covid-19 epidemic around the world.

During the six months of 2022, Cambodia's tourism sector showed a lot of positive after the situation of Covid-19 disease in Cambodia under control and returns to be better than in 2020 and 2021. Some provinces are starting to see the return of international tourists and in some provinces, there were many domestic tourists traveling in the local.

Mr. Thong Khon the Minister of Tourism said at the meeting to review tourism in the first half of 2022 that 6,331,539 domestic tourists have traveled across the country for six months of 2022. Most of those tourists are to visit at the Krovanh Mountains, Siem Reap, Angkor, coastal areas, and northeast ecotourism areas.

And the number of international visitors to Cambodia in the first six months was 506,762, an increase of 394% if compared to the same period in 2021. Mr. Thong Khon said that all those International tourists from Vietnam, Thailand, China, United States, Indonesia, France, South Korea, Malaysia, England, Australia, Singapore, and India. This amount is very noticeable after Covid-19 returned better in Cambodia.

At the same time, national tourists going abroad also gained momentum during the six months. According to a report from the Ministry of Tourism, 181,246 Cambodians went abroad from January to June 2022. Most Cambodian tourists go to Thailand and Singapore for tourism and business purposes.By now, fully vaccinated tourists are again free to travel to the country without having to quarantine, and all kinds of businesses and activities reopen as schools transportation, stadiums hotels, restaurants, museums, clubs, bars, tourism industry, and other sectors have run smoothly in Cambodia.
