Cambodia is preparing to rollout super high speed 5G

Phnom Penh: Cambodia plans to issue 5G licenses soon and encourage leading domestic and international mobile operators to participate in the development of 5G technology and be a driving force of development Cambodia's digital economy in the future. This is what the President of the Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia said at the GSMA Mobile 360 Asia Pacific meeting under the title of Confidence in the future of telecommunications networks.

The First point, Cambodia plans to provide 5G licenses in the near future and encourage the leading local and international mobile operators to participate in the development of 5G technology.

The second point, Cambodia supports the globalization of the 5G radio frequency spectrum and the standards established by ITU and GSMA.

The third point, during 5G technology development Cambodia recognizes the need of international security standards for the protection and development of the digital economy. Over the last 30 years, various security certification methods have been developed to evaluate the safety criteria of telecommunications equipment suppliers and telecommunications service providers.

The fourth point, Cambodia supports and recognizes the importance of using security standards such as the Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) and the GSMA 5G Cybersecurity Knowledge Base (CKB) as a basis for the regulation and standardization of telecommunications services with high efficiency and security to users.

The fifth point, Cambodia continues to work with development partners to build a national digital and at the same time develop and implements cyber security standards, and continue to work closely with relevant institutions to achieve digitalization in Cambodia and the development of the digital economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
